About Me

Andrea

I am an experienced cook and cooking instructor,  event co-ordinator and total health freak  living in a rural/cottage area of Eastern Ontario. I’ve spent many years studying almost every current diet and diet theory and read obsessively about what one should and shouldn’t eat for optimal health.   I’ve come to specialize in making healthy food taste extremely good.  Paradoxically,  I have a passion for baking and absolutely love making baked goods for others to enjoy, as I eat gluten-free and lactose-free.   I really enjoy sharing my knowledge of food with others.

This blog has a variety of recipes – a little bit of everything as I have  several kids spread around the country (and globe), here is a quick access to mom’s cooking.  You can rely on these recipes being well-tested and I’ve worked hard to write them in a very legible and understandable way. Enjoy.

    • I like your site. Clean. Easy to navigate.
I snagged the aspargus for my background to continue enjoying the visual. Your philosophy of cooking fits my agenda for health improvement and maintenance. The dressings are just what I need right now. Thank you, Andrea!

  1. Not only are you amazing when you cook but you know how to capture the soul of the food or the moment with your photographic eye! Beautiful and intimate pictures of the event of Saturday. I am impress … and flattered by your words and picts!

The desserts you researched and put together for the vernissage were just out of this world. Kids and much older ones all loved it. It was a complement to the magic of that day. And the class we had, learning how to create them, was so fun, and the result was tasty! I just can’t beleive I can do those elegant desserts now!

Thank you, Andrea!! I am looking for our next cooking class! Hum… until then, I think I will try to make that layered cake with bananas… yummy! I love how you make cooking/baking exciting and so inspiring!

  2. Andrea, love your blog! I have tried several of your recipes in the last few weeks and they are all delicious, easy to follow and turn out great.
Hope you come back and teach some classes in the fall in Crow Lake!
    Keep those recipes coming!

  3. Hi Andrea,

I am a new fan of yours, I would like to know if you can find easy and tasty nice recipes for deer. I have roast, sirloin, tenderloin, etc.

  4. Andrea, I will forever remember the chocolate beet cake that you made for Laurie when you visited when she was fighting cancer. I truly enjoyed that moment, and the absolutely delicious cake. Laurie treasured you. oxo
